Hey Everyone,Well the area just keeps getting better and better! We have really been working on finding the people that are ready! Every meeting we have we recite Doctrine & Covenants 4, and in verse 4 it say "the field is white already to harvest" which basically means that there are always people out there that God has prepared to hear the gospel. So we have been talking with everyone we see and sharing the first vision and Lesson One Pamphlet. One of the people we found we gave her the Lesson One Pamphlet and asked her to read it. By the time we came back she had read it! That's probably one of the very few times that Anyone has ever read the thing that we gave them. Not only that, but she took notes and wrote down questions! By far one of the coolest things anyone has ever done. Never thought it would be so hard to get people to read 8 pages of a small book. We figured out why, and it's because she is from the States.
Anyways, I got an ingrown toenail, and so every morning I have to soak it in water and Epsom Salt. I also had to buy $150 worth of medicine to keep it from getting infected. Usually it doesn't hurt too bad until I accidentally kick a rock or something... then it hurts really bad but hopefully it gets better soon.
One of the cool things here is that instead of people saying Heavenly Father, they say "Fatha Gaad" which is like the Kriol way of saying it.
I also love this quote by Elder Russel M. Ballard that reads, "I am so thoroughly convinced that if we don't set goals in our life and learn how to master the techniques of living to reach our goals, we can reach a ripe old age and look back on our life only to see that we reached but a small part of our full potential. When one learns to master the principles of setting a goal, he will then be able to make a great difference in the results he attains in this life." This quote has really helped me out on the mission and made me realize the importance of writing down goals, and trying to complete them. Then if we do this we can become a great person and reach our full potential as Elder Ballard says.
We also helped a less active member pick beans so she could prepare for church, but then ended up not being able to go because she had to cook more than she thought. I also gave a BYU shirt to a Rosta Man named Andrew. He loved it so much! Everyone here loves free shirts!
Love, Elder Stiles
QUESTIONS:
First of all let me say happy birthday to my mom! You know, because that is the most important! :)
What miracles happened this week? We met a guy at church that I thought was a member but turns out he isn't but he comes to church every single Sunday. So we are going to teach him and baptize him!
What is something crazy or interesting that happened this week? Something crazy is that we saw a guy in the street that just decided to take off his shoes in the middle of the street and leave them there, like he just walked away from them.. they were perfectly fine as well!
What are you doing for P-day today? for P-day I think we're going to go look for a watch and a backpack for my comp. My watch broke so now I don't have one anymore.
